Review of Code of Practice D for Public Display

Issue date:
22 March 2021

The HTA is undertaking a review of the HTA’s Code of Practice D for Public Display with a view to aligning the expectations of consent for imported material for public display with that of material originating in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

During the passage through Parliament of The Medicines and Medical Devices Act 2021, which does not affect the Human Tissue Act (HT Act), concerns were expressed over the difference in consent requirements for imported and non-imported material for public display.

The review will consider whether revisions to the Code are needed to strengthen expectations over consent. This consultation is currently in progress.

If you have comments or would like to know more about the consultation, please email
